The first time I had to pump my own gas was, in a word, humorous.

I hate pumping my own gas. It’s cold outside!

Once while on vacation as a kid my Dad got out of the car to pump gas in Oregon and got into a wrestling match with the pump with the poor attendant. Silly Californians.
